Lawrence J. Gramling, PhD, CPA, has been involved with COIA since the University of Connecticut was asked to join over 12 years ago. Larry initially served as the University of Connecticut Senate’s elected COIA representative. He later was asked by members of the COIA Steering Committee to join the Steering Committee which at that time was composed of representatives from the various athletic conferences. Larry represented the former Big East conference. After the various conference re-alignments, Larry continued to serve as one of four representatives from the American Athletic Conference on the Steering Committee.
At the February, 2016, annual COIA meeting, in anticipation of the current COIA bylaws revision, Larry agreed to serve as the acting chair of the Communications and Administration Committee. In this role, Larry has been responsible for disseminating the bylaws to the members, tabulating the bylaws ratification vote and assisting with the election of the new COIA Steering Committee.
At UConn, Larry, a member of the Accounting Department faculty, currently serves as the Senior Director of Undergraduate Programs for the School of Business. He has twice been elected by the University of Connecticut Senate to serve as a member of the UConn President’s Athletic Advisory Committee. He is currently serving on that Committee.
